A small temple marks where the forest walk begins, through oak, deodar and rhododendron.
Indrahar Pass
From Triund the trail continues to Indrahar Pass at 4,342 m, with views of Mani Mahesh Kailash and the Pir Panjal range.

Getting to McLeodganj

The steep 22 curves at the end of day one, and 19 km on day two.

Patchy signal
Jio and Vodafone work on parts of the trail. There is no signal at the top. Himalaya Shelter
Entry fee and limit
Register at the Gallu forest check post and pay the entry fee: ₹100 a day at the last reported rate. Only 40 people and 20 tents may stay on the ridge each night. Treks and Trails
Winter closures
Kangra's winter orders close the trail above 3,000 m, including Snowline Café and Laka. Triund itself can close on bad-weather days. Treks and Trails
Carry water
Water sources are few. Carry at least 2 litres. Himalayan Dream Treks
Food on the trail
Tea stalls line the forest section. Magic View Café, at about 2,400 m, is the usual tea stop. Treks and Trails
Tents and rest house
Tents at Triund rent for about ₹600 for two, with sleeping bags. The forest rest house costs ₹600–800 a night; book it in Dharamshala. Trekup India
Night temperatures
About 4 °C in October and just below 0 °C in November. −5 to −7 °C from December to February. Even May–June nights are 7–10 °C. Treks and Trails
Getting to the trailhead
Cars stop at Galu Devi temple, 6 km by road from McLeodganj, about 20 minutes by taxi. Or walk 3.5 km via Dharamkot. Treks and Trails
