Stories and nature

The meadows of the gods

The pond

Bedni Kund

Pilgrims offer pindas to their ancestors at this holy pond, beside an old Nanda Devi temple and a shrine to the local god Latu.

The meadow

A place of silence

Folklore forbids picking flowers, singing, playing the flute or shouting on Bedni Bugyal, home of the gods.

The law

Protected bugyals

In 2018 the Uttarakhand High Court banned overnight stays on the high meadows. On 20 July 2026 the Supreme Court set aside the camping limit and group cap; the other rules still stand (JustWravel, Aug 2026).

When to go

Almost all year

Bikat runs the trek nearly year-round: snow in winter, wildflowers through the monsoon.

May–June

Days 15–20 °C, nights 5–7 °C.

Sep–Nov

Days 10–15 °C, nights −5 to 5 °C, and clear views of Trishul.

Monsoon

Flowers bloom on the meadows from April–May to September.

Winter

Snow on the meadows. Bikat lists December batches.

Who runs it

Choose an operator

We found 6 operators with an Ali Bedni Bugyal page in October 2026; only 2 list dates. Camping on the meadows is allowed again after the Supreme Court ruling of July 2026.

Prices are base prices from each operator's own page (October 2026); most add 5% GST. Ratings are what each operator shows, not an independent audit. Names marked † show last season's price or one seen only in a search snippet.
